Revolution Development Cycling runs different programs to teach kids the different cycling disciplines – Mountain Bike, Cyclocross, and Road.

JUNIOR MOUNTAIN BIKE PROGRAM:

Coaches: Head Coach Brian Segal & Assistant Coaches Jennifer Hester, Deb Ice, & Kevin Bratetic

In a way, this could be looked at as a continuation of the mountain bike program that we’ve run for the last few years; same coaches, families, sponsors, schedules and fun. Here’s a brief look at what we’ll be doing:

  • We will be starting with indoor winter practices in February.
  • Once the weather is amenable, our coaches will begin the weekly Sunday skills and drills practices. We will also have guest coaches helping to work on specific skill sets needed for MTB racing.
  • Group rides on trails with lots of coaches and mentoring from older junior racers. We want to make sure that everyone’s skill level is advanced and respected, from the beginner to our most expert.
  • TeamSnap app is used for fast access to all calendar and contact info. We want you to always know what’s going on.
  • Team tent at MTB Races throughout the summer.

JUNIOR ROAD PROGRAM:

Coaches: Lesley McShane, Jerome McNear & Michael Seiler

Many of our kids start on the dirt but eventually try their hand at racing on the road. Louisville is lucky to have many races within a couple of hours drive where they can get that experience on the road. Much of our road program is self-driven with the kids organizing rides together in our wonderful park system. Our coaches are available at any time for advice and encouragement.

  • Monday Recovery Rides – These rides start once the weather starts to warm up. This ride is for all the junior riders in Louisville and is a key part of recovering from weekend racing. For the younger kids, this is not really a recovery ride but they get a good workout and learn to ride in a group. We do ask for parents of the younger riders to ride with them.
  • Race Schedules & Rides are posted in TeamSnap.

JUNIOR CYCLOCROSS PROGRAM:

Coaches: Head Coach Michael Seiler & Assistant Coaches Deb Ice & Drew Dillman

Louisville has been a hot bed for cyclocross and our Junior racers have been a huge part of Louisville being mentioned in the same breath as other cycling meccas – Colorado, the Northeast. These kids have won National Championships and even raced in Europe.

  • First official practices will start in August at Eva Bandman Park located on River Road. Our coaches and a host of Regional Elite Men and Women will lead skills and drills practices focusing on the specific skill sets needed to compete in cyclocross. Practices are open to ALL junior racers regardless of what team they are on.
  • Group practices with lots of coaches and mentoring from older junior racers. We want to make sure that everyone’s skill level is advanced and respected, from the beginner to our most expert.
  • TeamSnap app is used for fast access to all calendar and contact info. We want you to always know what’s going on.
  • Team tent at OVCX Races throughout the Fall. It is important to spend time at the races and celebrating the kids’ accomplishments.
